One of our nation's favorite holidays is Independence Day. On July 4th Americans celebrate our independence, history and heritage in traditional ways like making homemade ice-cream, grilling hot dogs and lighting fireworks. Shared sacrifices from generations of Americans make us proud of who we are and where we are from. This pride in heritage can also be viewed on more local levels in our own communities and businesses .... more

Historically the building industry has been slow to embrace new products, building techniques, and technological advancements for the construction industry.  I can imagine the first nail-gun and power-saw salesmen drew much skepticism from the old-timers that were accustomed to swinging hammers and operating handsaws .... more

Welcome to 2011! We are excited to start a new year and eager to get things off to a fresh start. The economists are optimistic that the economy is on the rebound and the stock market is showing some strength. Although the housing market continues to suffer from foreclosure problems it is expected that housing starts will increase this year. Much of the spending in housing this year will continue to be in remodeling, additions, and decks .... more

Craig DavisI recently came accross an article from Don Magruder, CEO of Ro-Mac Lumber in Leesburg, Florida. I was hesitant to share the message during the season of giving but think the information is too valuable. Battling the current housing market in Florida has been especially tough and Mr. Magruder shares what he has learned to avoid "forced negotiations" when your customer's bill comes due... more

As we approach the holiday season many homeowners are making last minute repairs and improvements to their properties. Projects that have been put off all year find themselves being crammed into the last few weeks before holiday guests arrive. The frenzy of completing these projects in time for Thanksgiving turkey can be a daunting task, even for the seasoned builder. Builders and suppliers scrambling to meet these demands can beat our customers expectations by helping to set expectations with the customer during the initial planning stages .... more

Generally I like roller coasters. If you ride the merry-go-round continuosly odds are you will get used to seeing the same things over and over and may fall into a trancelike state. A roller coaster can be terrifying and at the same time thrilling. When the ride is over and you've had time to make sure you have all your body parts you can shout "That was fun!" and generally have a sense of pride that you survived. Thus has been the case with the construction industry since the housing bust .... more

Ringing telephones, busy bodies, more faces, and most importantly more smiles on those faces are characteristics we've observed for two months in a row now. It is a recent record! As one of our vendor representatives said recently "we are celebrating smaller victories" these days. We are grateful to have you, our customer, to help us achieve these victories and wish to partner with you for mutual success .... more
